Should I Batch Record My Podcast Episodes?

First off, what is batch recording?

Batch recording is when you create multiple podcast episodes during a chunk of time. For example, if you record 3 episodes back to back in 1 day this is batch recording.

What Are the Benefits of Batch Recording?

Saves You Time!

One huge benefit to batch recording is it saves time. You save time by setting up and taking down equipment only once instead of multiple times if you were to normally record episodes. You also save time by not having to repeat sound checks.

You Sound Better!

After getting into the flow on an episode, have you ever noticed how much more natural you sound and how your nerves settle and you make fewer mistakes and stumbles? You can capitalize on this by recording more than 1 episode during a timeframe. You will save time and sound more natural because you are already in the grove!

Less Pressure!

You can get ahead and have your content ready to go for the next month and it takes the pressure off. No need to scramble! You can give yourself a pat on the back for being organized and being proactive!

Disadvantages of Batch Recording

Unfortunately, not all podcasters will be able to take advantage of batch recording. If your show requires you to talk about current issues or news, it is most likely batch recording won’t work for your episodes.

But for the majority of podcasters, batch recording is a worthwhile system to implement.

Give it a Try

Whether you want to batch record 2 episodes in one afternoon or if you want to batch record a season’s worth of episodes in 1 week, I would recommend giving it a try! It’s a chance to be more productive with your time and energy.
